Christian Outreach

Our Christian Outreach Partners for 2023-24

B.A.S.E.S.; an addictions support group has received annual gifts from CEC for many years.

Community Food Pantries– in Charlevoix AND East Jordan.  Charlevoix’s Pantry has invited volunteers from Christ Church to help stock shelves and/or pack groceries.  Outreach gifts money annually which supplements the bags of grocery items from CEC members requested by the Pantry.  East Jordan Pantry receives a monetary gift to support purchase of personal care items.

Habitat for Humanity-CEC has interest in helping to address housing needs in Charlevoix. In 2024, monetary gifting will receive additional support from the fundraising effort of CEC’s Episcopal Church Women.

Manna Food Project of Northwest Michigan-continues to manage food assistance programs including Backpacks 4 Kids, which invites CEC members to travel to Manna’s warehouse to help assemble.  CEC gifts an amount which is often timed to a ‘matching grant’ opportunity.

Mission work in the Dominican Republic-CEC gifts to its scholarship program.

The Rainbow Shoppe-located in Charlevoix, this ministry is a re-sale shop for gently used goods; the proceeds of which are distributed to local

non-profit groups.  A ‘league’ of CEC volunteers, currently coordinated for scheduling by Judy Colt, serve as counter clerks at the shop.  David Loving is currently our church’s ‘ambassador’ board member.  He succeeded Dorothy Miller.

Rayder Den-this is a resource pantry located at Charlevoix Middle/High School that sprung out of the roots of three Charlevoix churches: (Christ Church, First Congregational and St. Mary’s). It is an established non-profit organization and currently, two Christ Church members are active board volunteers and join others to shop for and pack, food and personal product items each week to students who need/request assistance.  Additionally, the Den makes food-only gift cards available during breaks in the school calendar and can help with car fuel subsidies for students who travel to Voc-Tech sites for their individualized curriculum requirements and for which school transportation is NOT provided.

Safe Haven Ministries-CEC’s monetary gifts have helped purchase blankets for use at the ‘Night Light’ Men’s Shelter. Christ Church members assist with other Safe Haven programs by volunteering to cook (twice weekly breakfast and holiday meal give-aways) as well as at a ‘Games and Grub’ weekly outreach to youth during the summer months.

Charlevoix and East Jordan Schools are gifted monies to help with purchases that support students clothing needs through the winter.

Each December for countless years, Outreach donates to Charlevoix’s Christmas Project to support foodbox purchases.  CEC members additionally donate to the Angel Tree by either shopping for requested items from recipient families or by donating monies.

CEC Outreach continues conversations with our Community Partners as well as becoming aware of needs in the Charlevoix Community so that we can suggest volunteerism and remain good stewards of the fiscal resources entrusted through CEC’s budget and fundraising efforts.

We invite you...

to join us! Our Sunday morning worship service (Rite II with Holy Eucharist) begins at 10:00 a.m. with a coffee hour following in our Parish Hall.
